Education and Experience
Kathleen pursued her passions in biology, mathematics, and art in a small college setting before bringing her skills to a wider community.
As a graduate student in biomedical sciences at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, I explore elements of the genome that shape susceptibility for psychiatric disorders and other behavioral paradigms as part of my thesis research in the Karlsson Laboratory.
As a scientist and an artist, I also take opportunities to combine my passions. I illustrate in traditional and graphical styles. I am available for illustration commissions, detailed below.

Currently, I am a graduate student with research as my main priority. I am available for commissions, for use in press or publication, whenever time and interest permits. Feel free to reach out to me about your project. Details and terms about commissions are given below.
Rates will be charged "per illustration" and largely depend on the project and complexity of the illustration(s). I can share example rates charged for previous illustrations before agreeing on a rate. After design sketches are provided, I will ask for a deposit prior to beginning the illustration(s). Upon finalization, I will send an invoice for final payment.
Traditional illustrations will be shipped and accompanied by high-quality scans. Digital and graphical illustrations will be given in high-resolution, as well as vector format if available.
I will work with you to sketch several ideas before beginning to illustrate. I will also allow two revision stages, for which edits can be made before finalizing the illustrations.
I ask permission to eventually display illustrations on my gallery page with brief descriptions of the relevant research and links to the research online. You retain rights to use commissioned illustration(s) commercially or publicly.
Please feel free to reach out to me through email by filling out the form below and I'll return your message soon. I can also be reached through various social media connections. Thank you!
